The Tang Dynasty's Famous Detective Di Renjie: Conan

Di An, a third-year medical student, tripped and fell into a sewer. When he opened his eyes, he was in Chang'an during the Zhenguan era.

His starting kit: a hoodie, a phone, a power bank, and over a thousand downloaded episodes of Detective Conan. A survival guide to the Tang dynasty? Not a chance.

To make ends meet, he used his amateur medical knowledge and memories of the Detective Conan manga to land a job as a coroner at the county yamen. But after casually solving a few strange cases using techniques from the manga, he rose all the way to become the emperor's handpicked master detective: “Di Renjie.”

From then on, Chang'an took on a whole new character:

While the Court of Judicial Review was tearing its hair out over a locked-room murder, he munched on a meat-stuffed flatbread and murmured, “There is only one truth. The culprit is...”

When the world's greatest constable met a mysterious death at a martial arts tournament, he adjusted his nonexistent glasses. “I've seen this method somewhere before... In ‘The Ski Lodge Murder Case,’ I think...”

The court officials all believed his wisdom was unfathomable. Who could have guessed that when the renowned Lord Di investigated a case, he was either looking for a signal or worrying that his phone would run out of battery?

And to make things even trickier, Su Zijin, the daughter of the court astronomer and an aloof genius who aspired to write about every strange case under heaven, followed him around every day, insisting on putting him in her book and making herself the heroine.

Di An felt the phone in his pocket, now down to 1% battery, and fell into deep thought. Which manga episode should he look up tonight to save his life?
