Many People Have Died in the Building Where I Live

Because the rent was cheap, I moved into an old apartment building that was about to be demolished.

The landlord gave me just one warning: don’t open the door after four in the morning.

At first, I didn’t take it seriously. Then, on my first night there, I saw a woman who shouldn’t have been there on the surveillance feed from the out-of-service elevator.

Only later did I learn that many people had died in this building.

Even worse:

Some of them are clearly dead, and yet they still live here.
