The Impeccable Female Censor

Xue Yun, the legitimate daughter of the Marquis of Wu’an’s household, had a secret.

She was bound to the “Chastity System.”

Her second aunt brought people to catch her in the act, claiming her lover was inside the room. Under the System’s influence, everyone else saw Xue Yun leaning by the window, reading in peaceful solitude. Only her second aunt saw a naked man climbing out the window. She lunged after him, hit the ground headfirst, and grabbed at empty air. From then on, she became the laughingstock of the capital.

The Great Liang dynasty’s first female censor.

In court, she set her terms: clear prices, money up front to impeach an official.

One thousand taels for a fifth-rank official, two thousand for a third-rank official, five thousand for a member of the imperial family. She accepted only two cases a day.

The entire court erupted, denouncing her as absurd.

But she calmly quoted the founding emperor’s words, “We judge by ability, not by whether a person is male or female,” leaving everyone speechless.

She brought down the Minister of War for embezzling military funds. She exposed the shocking tragedy of the starving dead in Xihe Province, provoking the emperor’s wrath.

The Third Prince’s faction assumed she was targeting the crown prince and smugly tried to recruit her. But Crown Prince Zhao Ce saw that all she cared about was justice.

When they tried to win her over, she remained calm. “My grandfather taught me that the Xue family serves only the emperor and takes no part in the struggle for the throne.”

From family intrigue in the marquis’s estate to the storms of court politics, from an orphan seeking revenge to an incorruptible champion of the people, she wielded a censor’s brush as a woman, caught between rigid rules and factional strife…
