The Loom Tower

Weave the tower, weave the laws, weave the rules, weave cause and effect.

Everyone who enters the tower is a Weaver. The Shuttle Bearer is not. He is the shuttle itself.

Above the tower’s dome, seven hands have held on for seven hundred years. The hands are cold, but even hands have gaps.

Chen Mo is the tower’s newest Shuttle Bearer. On his first day, he receives a shuttle-shaped ID badge, and everyone looks at it with fear.

An old man in the archives gives him an old photograph and tells him that thirty years ago, a man named Lu Yuan entered the tower’s highest level wearing an identical shuttle badge, and never came out.

Now Chen Mo has been “promoted” to the highest level. Above the dome, a transparent hand is reaching for the back of his neck.
