In 1942, the Chinese Expeditionary Force was defeated in Burma. Soldier Liu Fusheng climbed out of the pile of dead people in Savage Mountain and vowed never to touch a gun again. A year later, he was sent to the US military training camp in Ramgarh, India, and became an instructor for a group of student soldiers. He wanted to dawdle, but fate did not give him this option.
From Ramgarh to the Hukan Valley, from Myitkyina to Bhamo, from Nankan to the country gate - he and his brothers used American guns, Japanese blood, and their own lives to fight back home step by step.
This is not the general's story. This is the story of those whose names have not even been left behind. Some of them died in Tonggu, some died in Savage Mountain, some died in the tunnels of Myitkyina, and some died on the eve of victory. The living live on behalf of the dead.
"Summer of Ramgarh" is based on real history and uses restrained brushstrokes to restore the bloody journey of the Chinese troops stationed in India. It asks: after a war, besides numbers and monuments, what else is worth remembering?
The answer is people. Those who lived, fought, and died.

I was surprised that General Sun Liren was included in this book. He was also put under house arrest by Chiang Kai-shek for 33 years, which is very sad!
