[Rong-Yan romance]
Girl pursues boy + will-they-won't-they tension + sweet contrast + palace power struggles + hidden martial-world plotline + mutual salvation + Xiaoyanzi makes her feelings clear
[Cool-headed, scheming Sixth Prince × impulsive, spirited commoner-born princess]
After a moment of carelessness nearly cost Xiaoyanzi her virtue, the Sixth Prince happened to pass by and rescued her. From then on, Xiaoyanzi fell for him at first sight and was always running after him.
Xiaoyanzi's love is open and passionate. She doesn't hide it, and loves clinging to Yongrong, telling him she likes him, bringing him pastries and embroidered sachets, and asking him to teach her.
Yongrong is aloof and doesn't enjoy socializing at aristocratic banquets or getting involved in the princes' rivalries. He responds to Xiaoyanzi's bold pursuit with little more than cool indifference.
When they first met, she didn't know who he was. Xiaoyanzi chased after him, asking, “Is there someone you like? Are you married? Do you have a wife?”
At last, Yongrong grew tired of her pestering and warned her, “I'm not interested in romance. And don't approach me or talk to strangers.”
Later, Yongrong became embroiled in a political marriage dispute, and Xiaoyanzi pressed him to say whether he liked her.
Yongrong said he didn't understand love.
Under the night sky, they stood together for a long time. At last, Xiaoyanzi spoke. “We could give it a try.”
Yongrong thought it over and agreed. But he never expected to fall in love so deeply, and he had no idea that he had already made her part of his life.
He shields her from rumors, foils schemes, and weathers the storms of the inner palace for her. He uses all the power at his disposal as a prince to promise her a peaceful, worry-free life.
After they get together, Xiaoyanzi realizes that Yongrong is actually cool-headed, scheming, abstinent, and possessive.
It's so pretty and the little swallow is so domineering.
This is the best Rong Yan novel I have ever read
Sweet double row, straightforward
