In March 2026, female photographer Wang Zhiyi broke into Selguo Cangzhai Village in Daofu County, Western Sichuan alone, and came across the ancient apricot plant that was said to have stood for thousands of years and bloomed like snow.
The deep mountains were silent and the apricot blossoms covered the village. She met a Tibetan woman - the beautiful Dolma - under the ancient tree.
Dolma stroked the bark of the old apricot tree with her fingertips and whispered: "My grandma and grandpa are buried under this tree."
A past event of the Republic of China that had been covered in dust for nearly a hundred years was slowly revealed by the camera.
In the sixth year of the Republic of China, Zhao Ruqing, a well-known lady from Beijing, was unwilling to accept her father's arranged marriage. She dressed in a cheongsam, carried some broken silver, and fled thousands of miles. She fell from the prosperous Kyoto into the wild mountains of western Sichuan.
When she was freezing, hungry, and almost killed in a snowstorm, she was rescued by a tall and mighty Tibetan man.
His name is Gongbu, and he is the village guard of Serguo from generation to generation. His body is as majestic as a snow-capped mountain, his character is as silent as a rock, his sword never leaves his body, he is brave and fearless, and he only defends a village and a tree!
To protect her, he fought against the mountain bandits, to defend the village, he fought against the Sichuan warlords, and for this love that spanned mountains, seas and nations, he shed his blood under the trees!
She abandoned the capital and returned home, put down her eldest daughter's figure, learned to make butter tea, and herd cattle, sheep and horses. She regarded the wilderness and ancient cold as her hometown and Gongfu as her lifelong destination.
In the troubled times, when the mountains and rivers are in turmoil, Gongbu fights enemies coming from all directions, Zhao Ruqing is by his side and will never leave!
As time goes by, the apricot blossoms bloom every year. Dolma guards the place where the souls of the ancestors return, and Wang Zhiyi uses the camera to restore a deep love hidden deep in the snowy mountains that will last until death.
Everyone admires the beauty of apricot blossoms, but who knows that loyal souls are buried under the trees.
There is only enough time to love one person in a lifetime, and it will last hundreds of years!
