The Final Act 1

At eighteen, Lin Mo didn’t receive a script promising him a bright future. Instead, he got a blood-red verdict of doom:

[Heretic No. 001. At age twenty-four, this individual will end the laws of the script and destroy the world’s Script Core.]

Global alarms blared, and the Correctors mobilized in force. There was no script for what came next and no way out, only a citywide wanted notice and a six-year countdown to death.

The rules said: You must die.

Lin Mo said: I refuse.

He is the world’s only heretic without a script for what comes next, and the wildcard the rules fear most. Starting with his escape from the auditorium at Jiangcheng No. 3 High School, he awakens the power to break through the chains of causality in desperate situations: anticipating deadly traps, reversing certain death, and rewriting other people’s scripts. His childhood friend Su Ye builds an intelligence network for him with a keyboard, the Heretic Alliance rallies to his side in the dark, and the Correctors’ pursuit grows more frenzied with every encounter.

Zhang Chi, a C-rank enforcement team captain, regards the rules as his faith and vows to execute Heretic No. 001 with his own hands.

Zhou Jingshan, an SS-rank bureau chief, uses the entire city as a game board, laying a deadly trap of cause and effect and staking everything on killing Lin Mo in Jiangcheng.

But he doesn’t know that Lin Mo never follows the script.

The city is under lockdown? Then he’ll cripple the power grid and fight his way out from underground.

The evidence is overwhelming? Then he’ll broadcast everything nationwide and shatter the mask of the rules before the world.

When Zhang Chi falls in a pool of blood in the church, and Zhou Jingshan’s web of causality is severed with a single slash, Lin Mo stands atop Jiangcheng, thousands of rule-breakers behind him and Shangjing, the rules’ central hub, ahead.

This isn’t a flight. It’s a war.

“My script has only one line: end the rules. So let’s start today.”
