The Saintess Can’t Catch Me, and I Can’t Touch Her Either

I transmigrated to a world of cultivation, but I don’t even have a spiritual root.

The System tells me to touch the Golden Core sword cultivator who’s hunting me.

Touch her once, and I’ll grow stronger.

But she can freeze an entire river with one sword. Getting close means certain death.

So I run, and she chases me.

After two days and two nights, she still hasn’t caught me, but the soles of my shoes have worn away.

Later, she approaches me under an assumed name to investigate my background.

I pretend not to recognize her and gossip about her real self in front of her every day.

Her face turns livid, but she has to put up with it, and the System’s anger gauge shoots up.

What I don’t know is this:

When I helped her while wearing a mask, she didn’t recognize me.

When she disguised herself to get close to me, I didn’t recognize her either.

We both spend half the book pretending to be strangers in front of each other.

Until she is badly wounded protecting me and collapses, gripping my hand while unconscious.

System: “Attack ability unlocked. Evaluation: It took you this long to finish the mission, you good-for-nothing.”

Looking at her pale face, I think:

Now she’s touched me, but when is she going to wake up?
