Exiled, I Built a City

Song Yuandao transmigrates to the Great Yan Dynasty as an editor at the Hanlin Academy. Before he can even settle into his chair, he's caught up in an imperial examination fraud case and exiled to the barbaric southern wilderness.

He starts with twenty-five convicts, three dilapidated huts, and no food at all.

While everyone else waits to die in exile, he gets to work building infrastructure.

He smelts iron, makes salt, builds rammed-earth houses, constructs waterwheels and digs canals, then plants two rice crops a year. In four months, he turns wasteland into a town of seventy people.

The court inspector is dumbfounded:

“How does a Hanlin Academy editor know how to do all this?”

“You made this salt yourselves?”

“Wait... you recruited two gangs of bandits, too?”

The elders of the mountain tribes come personally to form an alliance. Among the belongings of a former exile lies a secret about a copper mine. A reply from the imperial court is already on its way.

See how an exiled scholar rises from the mud, builds a city, trains an army, opens trade routes, and mines for ore, step by step making his way to govern a frontier region and shaking up the Great Yan court!
