Shen Yu, female, 28, a product manager at a major internet company, dies at her desk after working overtime for 72 straight hours. Her last words are: “In my next life... I’ll definitely... lie flat...”
She opens her eyes as a baby in a farming family in Qingzhu County, Great Liang. She vows to do absolutely nothing in this life and just be a happy freeloader.
But Heaven won’t listen. Her mother treats her like a laborer, a local bully wants to seize her family’s land, they’re so poor they can barely afford to eat, and her younger brother is kidnapped by human traffickers... Every time she tries to lie flat, fate kicks her back up and makes her deal with something.
She disguises herself as a man to pass the county-level exam, becomes a provincial graduate, serves as a county magistrate, solves major cases, goes to the capital, and even receives an imperial marriage decree... Shen Yu cries out to the heavens: “All I wanted was to lie flat and slack off!!!!”
No golden finger, no pocket dimension, no System, just a heart that wants to lie flat...
