My Loyal Bodyguard Dares Not Cross the Line

Si Yinchuan drew a line for himself. On one side were his duties, his place, and the boundaries he had to uphold. He was her bodyguard, not her lover; her subordinate, not a suitable match. He stood behind that line for seven years. Until that night, when Luo Zhiyu was drugged by her father’s enemy and, as the drug took hold, clung to his neck. His defenses crumbled completely. At dawn, he knelt on the ground, trembling all over. “Miss... You can punish me however you like...” Luo Zhiyu gazed at his lowered, dog-like ears and stayed silent for a long time. Then she asked, “Do you know what I’m angry about?” He looked up. She met his eyes and spoke word by word. “I’m angry that I can’t remember a thing from last night. How you kissed me, how you held me, how you called my name... I don’t remember any of it.” He froze. She stood and walked over to him, bending down to cradle his face. “So you owe me one. While I’m fully conscious.” [He imprisoned himself behind that line for seven years. She breached his defenses in a single night. If she can’t remember it, they’ll just have to do it again.]
