“Jiang Beigang is dying. He’s been unconscious for twelve hours, and the doctor says he won’t wake up in time.” Song Zhiyi tapped Lin Wu’s cheek with a black card. “So you can be the one to collect his body.”

Lin Wu was brought to Jiang Beigang’s bedside by his wife, Song Zhiyi.

They were the only two people in the hospital room.

The first thing Jiang Beigang did when he woke up was pull out his IV and disconnect all the monitors.

Then he pressed Lin Wu’s head against his chest.

“Do you only come see me when I’m about to die, sis?”

Lin Wu rubbed the back of her sore neck. “No. This position is just uncomfortable.”

Jiang Beigang sat up straight and buried his face against her chest. “Is this position more comfortable for you, sis?”

Lin Wu didn’t answer. There was no way she could respond to that. She only sighed softly and stroked the top of his head.

“Or, sis, would you prefer a different position?” His long, narrow puppy-dog eyes, bright as peach blossoms, gazed at Lin Wu’s clear, glassy eyes.
