[The Person in the Mirror]!

One mirror, countless schemes: when the "you" in the mirror gains consciousness, how can you prove that you are real?

One day, I looked in the mirror and felt that the person inside smiled before I did.

That uncanny moment is where all fear begins. The mirror is at once the most familiar and the most alien object to humanity. We face it every day, yet few ever truly wonder: who is the "me" in the mirror? If it had a consciousness of its own, what would it think?

Combining the psychological concept of "mirror self-recognition" (babies don't recognize themselves in a mirror until they are eighteen months old) with the "uncanny valley effect" (the more a nonhuman thing resembles a human, the more frightening it becomes), the being known as Number Zero came into existence. It is not a monster, but the "rejected part" of humanity, projected into the mirror. Every time you look in the mirror, you feed it.
