In the third year of the apocalypse, Su Tang has only one conviction: survive, and take Lin Zhiyan with her.
She's the strongest fighter in her team, able to take on mutant beasts alone and carve a path through hordes of zombies. Lin Zhiyan is her only weakness, and the reason she can't afford to lose. To others, Lin Zhiyan is a weakling who holds everyone back. But to Su Tang, the person who makes her a cup of wild chrysanthemum tea in the middle of the night is the last bit of warmth she has left in this devastated world.
A madman has come from the north. He was once human, but now he's a monster: far stronger than ordinary people, with an almost miraculous ability to heal. He's so fanatical that he wants to "cleanse" every living thing except himself. His name is Lu Ming, and he was the only successful subject in the "Super Soldier" experiment before the apocalypse.
Su Tang and her team face Lu Ming head-on. They suffer a crushing defeat the first time, and an even worse one the second. Their teammates lose arms and legs, and Su Tang is covered in wounds. But she discovers a secret: Lu Ming isn't invincible. His extraordinary abilities consume tremendous amounts of energy. Keep wearing him down, and even he won't be able to hold out.
Meanwhile, a woman is watching them from the south. Shen Han, the mastermind who funded the "Super Soldier" experiment, now commands an armed force and is eagerly waiting to reclaim the research data.
A monster ahead, pursuers behind. Su Tang and her teammates are caught in the middle, with nowhere left to retreat. But she still has Lin Zhiyan, Old Zhao, Qin Yue, Chen Yu, and Jiang Lin, sharp-tongued but always dependable when it counts.
She's not afraid to lose. Because she knows that if she turns around, someone will be waiting for her.
So she keeps moving forward.
