Journey to the West: The Monk Abandons the Scriptures and Crushes the Buddhist Order

I transmigrated as Tang Sanzang and flipped the table at my own tonsure ceremony.

Buddhism said I was Jin Chanzi reborn, destined to journey to the West to obtain the scriptures, endure the Eighty-One Tribulations, and attain enlightenment.

I laughed.

The System gave me a brick. I smashed Buddhism’s plans, killed my enemy Liu Hong, and returned to secular life.

Heaven sent Taibai Jinxing to chase me. The Jade Emperor descended to mooch a meal. Guanyin sat by my stove and refused to leave.

I released Sun Wukong from beneath Five Elements Mountain. I didn’t give him a headband, just a brother.

The Bull Demon King carried my luggage. Marshal Tianpeng went through the proper channels to join the roster. The Black Bear Spirit came aboard on temporary assignment. The Yellow Wind Monster competed for a temp job.

From then on, the Journey to the West wasn’t about obtaining scriptures. It was about hunting Buddhas.

The tribulations were projects I outsourced, and the demons were new hires on the payroll.

On this journey west, I wouldn’t take so much as a needle or thread from the common people. I’d just clear the chessboard of Heaven and Spirit Mountain.

The Eighty-One Tribulations?

Those were the karma I rewrote, stroke by stroke.
