“Sound is the currency, weapon, and final gravestone of this world.”
Lu Ming has a strange ability: he can “steal” any sound and turn it into a card.
Steal the sound of footsteps, and he can move in silence;
steal an alarm, and he can sense danger before it comes;
steal the sound of a silent creature, and he can even survive in “absolute silence.”
But in a world watched by the “Star Eyes,” sound is a finite resource:
every sound he steals leaves something forever voiceless.
Worse still, someone has discovered him.
The Resonance Church wants to recruit him, the Order of Silence wants to hunt him, and his companion Bell, a chatty little copper bell, just wants him to steal its sound because “if a bell can’t ring, I won’t have to get hit all day.”
And when Lu Ming finally gathers three golden Source Sound cards, he hears the truth about the world:
“You are not someone who steals sounds. You are sound itself. You are the world’s last recording.”
