Synopsis

[Slow-paced] + [Urban fantasy] On the night of the Ghost Festival, a red moon hung in the sky. The news said it was a once-in-a-century astronomical spectacle. I believed them. Then I noticed that in the photo of the moon on my phone, a dense crowd of “people” stood behind me. But there had clearly been no one else on the rooftop. Even stranger, people began vanishing mysteriously across the city the next day, yet none of the media mentioned it. The TV kept playing experts’ explanations on a loop: “Some people may experience brief hallucinations during the red moon…” I scrolled through the local forum, watching one “Missing Person” post after another appear, my fingertips ice-cold. Then someone knocked on my door, softly calling me by my childhood nickname in the exact same voice as my dead grandmother. My parents didn’t die in an accident after all. What was the truth behind it? What lies beyond the Antarctic ice wall? Follow Chen Xu as an ordinary person in a world overrun by the supernatural, searching for the truth step by step until he finally brings the age of the uncanny to an end.

Mystery and Supernatural Stories

Looking for something similar to The Midnight Pawnshop: The Living Must Keep Their Distance. Please, I need a gripping supernatural mystery! No saintly protagonists: they should punish evildoers in their own way, help good people, and tell bad people to get lost. Daoist stories are welcome, including female Daoists. Episodic stories are fine too.
