I want to witness Gao Tu finally find happiness for himself:
There’s still a long life ahead. This time, I’ll be the one to come to you.
For ten years, Gao Tu made himself into Shen Wenlang’s shadow.
He pretended to be a Beta, hid his identity, and endured being misunderstood. He thought that if he made himself small enough, he could stay by that person’s side. But when Shen Wenlang said, “Don’t come near me smelling like a filthy Omega,” Gao Tu finally understood: no matter how much you give, some people still won’t see you.
In the original story, they got back together. But Gao Tu was still unhappy.
This fanfiction picks up again one month after their reunion. Gao Tu is the one who suggests they separate, not out of spite, but because he’s learning to love himself for the first time. Shen Wenlang is left behind, finally realizing that he never truly learned how to love someone.
While they’re apart, Gao Tu rediscovers the career talent he’d buried and builds an independent life. Shen Wenlang, meanwhile, clumsily reads, seeks advice, and reflects, slowly dismantling the arrogance ingrained in him.
When work brings them together again, Shen Wenlang asks for the first time, “What do you want?”
This isn’t a fairy tale about putting a broken relationship back together. It’s the story of two adults standing on their own before choosing each other again.
Give Gao Tu an equal ending, and give everyone who has ever lost themselves in love this reminder: there’s still a long life ahead, and this time, happiness doesn’t have to be earned through self-abasement.
