Luo Huilin woke up in the dazzling sunshine.
Her last memory was at the window on the fourth floor of the library. The Norton Anthology of English Literature was open and turned to Chapter 18. The bottom of the coffee cup left a circle of light brown stains on the edge of the page. She remembers staring at the title "Pride and Prejudice" in a daze, while her mind was still thinking about next week's course paper - on the hidden class anxiety and female writing strategies in the original 1813 edition. Then the sycamore tree outside the window swayed, the sunlight broke into a piece of gold, and then——
Then and now.
