Rules? They’re Just Word Games

Human resentment coalesces into rules. Those who enter must either obey or die.

That is the consensus among all night watchmen, until Lin Shen appears.

He can see loopholes in the rules. With a few casual edits, he turns certain death into a winnable game.

A father and daughter's lingering attachment in an abandoned amusement park, a couple's regrets at a deep-sea observation station, lives of truth and illusion in a theater of mirrors…

One bizarre instance after another, he and the women with him cleverly solve through wordplay.

But when he fights his way to the end, he discovers that

The enemies lurking in the shadows and the madmen hunting their own kind… were all just a prelude.

The source of every echo is simply waiting for someone who can help it wash away its malice.

And he is the very "rule" that was chosen.
