During the Zhenguan period, among the camel bells on the ancient Silk Road, a bone flute that could awaken the Dunhuang murals quietly appeared. In order to find the half bone flute left by his missing father, Ashina Yun, the leader of the Sogdian caravan, met Tan Yao, a young novice who could hear the whispers of murals, and Mi Wei, a silversmith girl who had been implanted with false memories, in Kucha Grottoes. When they discovered that a complete bone flute needs to be soaked with "blood and tears of pain" to open a passage to another world, the Zoroastrian priests were trying to break into the "Illusion Dunhuang" in the murals to seize the secret of immortality. However, every sound of the bone flute will erase a part of the player's present-day memory - when the mural begins to collapse, Ashina Yun must choose: should he exchange his father's memory for the opening of the passage, or let the thousand-year-old city of faith sink into the sea of sand forever? A fantasy epic about obsession, sacrifice and the survival of civilization slowly unfolds in the notes of the camel bone flute.
