"Smoke Locks Mountains and Rivers" tells the story of Lu Yan, a modern anti-drug policeman who died in an operation in 2020. He held an unexploded detonator and traveled to Guangzhou in 1838 on the eve of the Opium War. Faced with the rampant drug tide and the corrupt bureaucratic network, he relied on modern anti-drug knowledge, criminal investigation thinking and historical prophets to join Lin Zexu under a pseudonym. From mapping the drug network in Guangzhou, outsmarting the money laundering chain of banks, to assisting Humen to eliminate cigarettes, and witnessing the ruthless grinding of history, Lu Yan struggled to move forward between his personal will and the torrent of history. In the end, after completing his mission and witnessing the vicissitudes of life, he faced the ultimate choice: whether to return to modern times with evidence and memories spanning time and space, and turn historical lessons into a sharp sword for the present; or to completely integrate his life and ideals into those tragic years and become a silent cornerstone. This is a war of loneliness against the miasma of the times, an epic about courage, sacrifice and inheritance.
