Entwined Lotus, Ferrying Souls

Late one night during plum rain season, social worker Su Wan was struck by a runaway truck while trying to save a hunched old man. As she teetered on the brink of death, a cold, ink-black lotus mark appeared on her palm. When she opened her eyes again, she had entered the underworld, shrouded in a dim blue-green mist. The wooden door of the Forget-Worries Social Work Station creaked open, and a young man in dark robes, Xie Ci, handed her a yellowed Ledger of Lingering Souls. He told her that her household registration in the mortal world had been canceled. With a yin-aligned fate, she had become the underworld’s sole social worker, tasked with guiding the souls who refused to enter reincarnation. The three ironclad rules weighed heavily on her, but she had no idea that the soul guide before her, the mark on her palm, and the old man she had saved were all pieces of a carefully laid plan.
