Ding Yi, a graduate student in ancient Chinese, repeatedly encountered difficulties in finding a job. He accidentally traveled to the middle of the Ming Dynasty and became a frail seven-year-old child in a mountain village. Faced with the oppression of his dull father, shrewd mother and top relatives, he relied on his solid foundation in the Four Books and Five Classics and his understanding of the laws and imperial examinations of the Ming Dynasty. He determined to counterattack with the imperial examinations, break away from the shackles of a poor family, protect his family, and write a legend of a poor student.
