Of Three Thousand Waters, I Finally Found You

In their first life, one was a young master and the other his page. Three years together, and love quietly took root. But the world would not accept their love. One jumped into the river; the other hanged himself. Before dying, he said, “In our next life, let’s be together again.”

In their second life, one was a schoolteacher fleeing into exile, the other a young reporter for a newspaper. They met again on an old street beneath an oil-paper umbrella, as if a lifetime had passed. They fell in love amid the flames of war and parted beneath bayonets. He clutched a note: “Stay alive.” The other waited for fifty years.

In their third life, they are actors, playing out their own story. Beneath the eaves of an old street, one offers an umbrella and says, “You can do it.” This time, there are no Confucian rules, no war, no heartbreaking partings. At last, they can openly keep each other company.

They waited three lifetimes for this one chance. A love story woven with heartbreak and sweetness, spanning three lives. The first two will make you cry; the third will make you laugh through your tears.
