In the last days when "grey fog" swept across the world and transformed most life into "aberrants", human beings huddled in a steel city called "Fortress" and struggled to survive. Sikong Changye, a scavenger who traveled among the ruins to earn medical expenses for his sister suffering from gene failure, accidentally obtained an encrypted biological data chip during a near-death mission.
Hidden in the chip are sporadic clues to the "Chimera Project," the most advanced biological genetic engineering project before the end of the world, pointing directly to the "last genetic sequence" that may reverse everything and cure all genetic diseases.
For the sake of his sister, and in order to find a slim hope, Sikong Changye had to deal with the most difficult characters in the fortress: the secretive technical geek, the cold and pragmatic fortress commander, and his colleagues with ulterior motives. He will lead a team with different thoughts through the dead land occupied by aberrations, looking for the underground ark that hides the final fate of mankind. However, the truth is far crueler than he imagined, and what guards hope is often a deeper despair.
