The smell of blood.
It was strong and pungent, like rusty iron mixed with sweet berries. It was poured roughly into Lin Wei's nose, making her stomach churn.
Her eyes shot open.
What you see is not the familiar file rack in an office, nor is it the yellowish glow of a desk lamp when you work overtime. But it was dark.
This is a dilapidated palace, with cobwebs on the corners and several big holes in the window paper. Cold wind blows in, causing the small candle on the table to sway crazily and may be extinguished at any time.
The air was filled with a damp musty smell and a bloody smell that made her gag.
"Didn't I just finish the court session and sort out the files in the office? How could..."
Lin Wei's thoughts were still in chaos, but his body felt pain earlier. There was a dull pain in the back of her head, and a sharp tingling sensation came from the side of her neck, as if something cold and sharp was touching her skin.
