Deep in the universe, a battered starship from Earth, the Ark, accidentally activates an intergenerational jump engine and crashes into a shattered starfield known as the Hub of Myriad Worlds. Countless civilizations' ruins drift here, where rifts in spacetime crisscross and connect parallel universes with different levels of technology. The survivors discover that the starship's core has merged with an unknown technology called the "Seed of Civilization," allowing it to evolve and build a fleet by absorbing technology and resources from other worlds. But this starfield is home to both wandering civilizations seeking cooperation and interstellar pirates who live by plunder, while an ancient shadow lurks, seeking to devour all of spacetime. Thus begins an epic saga of survival, exploration, and ascendance among the stars.
