In Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong, on the eve of the handover, Pei Ci, a low-level watch repairman, only wanted to live a stable life and protect his childhood sweetheart Lin Lu. However, due to an old pocket watch that concealed the secrets of the society's arms trade, he accidentally got involved in a dispute with two gangs, Lian Sing and Sun Ngee On. In the desperate situation of being threatened and hunted, he gained the special ability to see through mechanical flaws because of his pocket watch. From a weak and bullied little watch repairman, he grew step by step into a strong man who can fight gangs and protect the people around him. He sticks to his heart in troubled times, trying to escape right and wrong and seek stability with the people he cares about.
