The gods have erased me 30,001 times.
Each time, they wipe me from existence: my body disintegrates, my memories are erased, and my soul is torn apart. Each time, I wake up unharmed twenty-four hours later, as if nothing had happened.
But they don't know that with every rebirth, I take a fragment of a god with me.
Seven fragments coexist within me. Sun Wukong's seventy-two transformations, Nezha's lotus-root body, Ao Bing's command over water, Bai Ze's knowledge of all things, Taotie's power to devour, Xing Tian's undying will to fight... They keep one another in check, making me the only wild-natured agent in either world who won't lose control.
And the only one the gods can't harm.
In the real world, I'm an ordinary programmer at an internet company, crushed every day by cutthroat competition and guilt. In the world of fantasy, I'm a BUG hunted by every god: the ancient gods see me as an error, the Investiture of the Gods agents send people to retrieve me, the gods of the Classic of Mountains and Seas want to devour me, and the Fear Group wants to use me.
And my only weapon isn't these fragments.
It's what I've learned through dying again and again: fear.
Cutthroat competition, guilt-driven education, social comparison, and a lack of purpose: every fear in the real world can become a force with which to strike back at the gods. The Fear Group uses these fears to destroy the world, while I use them to rebuild its rules.
Nuwa says I'm the key to balancing the two worlds. Sun Wukong says I'm the monkey who will break the cage. The Primordial Fear says I'm its other half.
I only know one thing: I've died more than thirty thousand times without staying dead. This time, I don't want to run anymore.
