The Paper Effigy Spirit-Return Shop

Deep in the mountains of western Hunan, Chen, the last paper effigy maker, has died. His adopted grandson, Chen Ping’an, burns down the paper effigy shop and heads to the city to make a living with the craft he learned from him. The paper figures he makes can communicate with the spirit world. Once their eyes are painted and they are burned, they can ward off calamity for the living and guide the dead on their way. This is the thousand-year legacy of the paper effigy craft, and all that Chen left him.
