In 1975, Jiang Xiaoman traveled through time and became a "loser" in the countryside, facing the fate of going to the countryside and waiting to die. She made a bet that she would be ranked first in the county. Studying hard under the kerosene lamp, she shocked the whole county with perfect scores, but was questioned for cheating. After retaking the exam and getting full marks, she went all the way to Peking University, won the gold medal in the International Mathematics Competition, and studied at Stanford. During the most difficult time, she was so tired that her stomach bleeds and her feet were injured and unable to walk, but she gritted her teeth and persisted. After completing her studies, she rejected Princeton and returned to China to teach, vowing to allow a thousand rural children to enter college in ten years. In the end, her education fund supported 327 students, and 89 were admitted to college. She spent her life proving that studying is the only investment that poor people can make without capital.
