Fate's Blade

Late at night, at the far end of the ruins east of the city, an unmarked tattoo shop glows with an eerie green light. The shop's owner, Jiang Ye, can see the “fate marks” on everyone through his “Eye of Pattern Sight.” These marks chart the course of a person's fate, determining their fortune and misfortune. Using a special “strange ink,” he seals calamities in the fate marks as tattoos. The price is that the curses transfer to him, and living, crawling patterns are swallowing his skin inch by inch.

When Su Wan, a forensic pathologist who doesn't believe in ghosts or gods, comes to him with three corpses covered in bizarre tattoos, Jiang Ye discovers that the tattoos are exactly like his own. The killer is his twin brother, Jiang Zhou, whom he believed had died in a fire ten years ago. Even more chilling, the birthmark on Su Wan's right shoulder is actually a “Heart Seal,” the key to breaking the seal on the ancient evil god known as the “Strange Ancestor.”

As one case involving strange patterns after another is brought to light, Jiang Ye and Su Wan are forced to join forces and face a three-thousand-year-old family curse. The brothers confront each other, the seal is about to break, and the final strange pattern on Jiang Ye's body may have to be carved with his life.
