Li Shutong is a Chinese art educator, dramatist, writer, calligrapher and painter. After returning to China, he taught at Zhejiang Normal University and Nanjing Higher Normal University. His educational practice had enlightening significance for early art education in China. In 1918, Li Shutong became a monk at Hupao Temple in Hangzhou, with the Buddhist name Yanyin and the name Hongyi. Then study the precepts.
