Pain.
Pain from the bones.
Guo Cangmiao opened his eyes and saw a broken sky, gray and covered with blood. He moved his fingers, and what he touched was sticky, cold rotten flesh and crushing bones.
Memory is messy. The final image is of the blinding white light of the laboratory and the shrill alarms of the instruments. And then... Here we are.
He pushed himself up and looked around.
Mountain of corpses. A real mountain of corpses.
The mutilated bodies piled up into mounds, and the rotten stench mixed with the smell of blood like rust reached the sky. In the distance, a black shadow passed across the gray sky, emitting an inhuman scream.
This is not the world he is familiar with.
He looked down at his hands. The skin was pale, but the blood vessels glowed with a strange lavender color and squirmed slightly. A strange, cold force was flowing through the veins in his body.
Thoughts moved slightly.
His fingertips pointed at a relatively complete corpse next to him - it was a man wearing tattered leather armor with a big hole in his chest. Guo Cangmiao just "thought" for a moment.
Lilac, spiderweb-like filaments seeped out from his fingertips, drilling into the corpse's wounds, into the bones, and into every inch of dead tissue.
