Wu Ge, a top livestream sales influencer, is exposed for selling counterfeits and evading taxes. Overnight, his reputation collapses and he becomes a target of public scorn. His old friend Che Dan takes him out to sea to fish and clear his head, but they run into a sudden disaster. Their boat is wrecked, and the two narrowly survive, washing up on an uncharted deserted island. The island is an isolated “paradise,” inhabited by both primitive tribespeople and people from the Ming dynasty. They seem simple and honest, yet there is something unsettling everywhere. Having faced life and death together, the two unfortunate friends want nothing more than to escape the island and return to civilization. They have no idea that the entire island is a 24-hour live-action variety show created by big business. Everyone on the island is an actor, and the men’s downfall, struggles, and escape plans are livestreamed to the whole internet, turning them into tools for profit.
