I've Given Up, Yet Goddesses and Pop Divas Keep Throwing Themselves at Me

Lu Yuan, an all-around superstar who worked himself to death backstage at a concert in his previous life, is reborn in a parallel world as a low-paid assistant earning just 3,000 yuan a month at Xinghai Entertainment, a company on the verge of bankruptcy.

In this new life, he has just one modest wish: get paid to use the bathroom, coast through life, and be a thoroughly unambitious slacker!

Then the boss clings to his leg, crying that the company is going under, while the boss’s icy, beautiful wife, a celebrated diva, is about to jump off a building.

Unable to sleep through all the noise, Lu Yuan can only yawn and casually toss out a song called “Encounter.”

The song shoots straight to the top of the charts, the betting contract is torn up, and the entire internet is stunned, searching for the “mysterious hit songwriter.”

He thought he could go back to taking it easy, but these women have no intention of letting him go!

The aloof diva Shen Muxue turns into his “supervisor,” quietly scheming to force him out of bed.

The proud, talented bassist Lin Yin brings the entire internet to tears with her song “Under the Sea,” then becomes utterly devoted to him and practically begs to work for free.

The short-tempered, washed-up actress Su Qingqing, hated by the entire internet, makes a triumphant comeback with the “god-tier voice crack” in “Chase Your Dreams with a Childlike Heart,” and starts looking at him differently.

And then there’s the cool, mysterious power player Gu Qinghan, who throws fifty million at him just to force him to get back to work...

“I’ll say it one last time: I’m really not some immortal hit songwriter! I’m just a gofer who runs errands!”

As the entire Chinese music industry falls to its knees, begging for mercy after being shaken by one game-changing hit after another, including “Dispelling Sorrow,” “Where Has the Time Gone?” and “Someone Like Me,” and the “battlefield of love” around him grows ever more crowded, Lu Yuan puts on a sleep mask and lets out a despairing wail:

“Can you all stop competing so hard? Even if the sky’s falling, wait until I’m done with my nap!”
