Q: Is this a serious novel?
A: No. It’s an unserious novel. Extremely unserious.
Q: So is it any good?
A: If you like instant noodles speaking with a Northeastern accent, CEOs fighting with noodle forks, the God of Instant Noodles riding an electric scooter, and the heroine eating instant noodles in the delivery room, then you’ll love it.
Q: What about the romance?
A: It’s there. If a man chases you for eight years over fifty cents, then either it’s true love or he’s really stingy.
Q: Does it have a happy ending?
A: Yes. The final scene shows a family of three eating instant noodles in the wheat fields of Noodleland. The noodles still talk, but they’re the second generation now: their child is also a cup of instant noodles.
Q: Anything the author wants to say?
A: While writing this book, the author ate thirty-seven cups of instant noodles and gained six pounds. She says it was an occupational hazard, but her doctor says she just ate too much. Please have instant noodles ready while you read, because you’ll get a craving.
