The Heaven-Chosen Sacrifice
Ten years in the Cangwu Sect taught Ye Chen only one thing: keep his head down.
The most useless disciple in the servant quarters, he could be kicked around even by Zhou Yuan. He thought this was all life had in store for him: carrying water, chopping wood, being called useless, and eventually dying that way.
Until the character for “Heaven” appeared in his palm.
The elders said it was a mark of the Heavenly Dao. A Heaven-Chosen One, selected by the Heavenly Dao. What a grand name. But the truth was that the Heaven-Chosen One was a sacrifice to the Heavenly Dao. The mark would drain his cultivation, flesh, and soul, turning him into nourishment for the Heavenly Dao’s awakening.
The entire sect feared him and kept an eye on him. No one treated him like a person. They saw only an ominous thing that could walk.
Only Shi Dazhuang said, “Who cares what it is? I’ll face it with you.”
Ye Chen didn’t want to be the Heavenly Dao’s sacrifice. He just wanted to live.
If the Heavenly Dao insisted on eating him, then he’d punch a hole through the sky.
