(Slow burn) + (The strategist-chasing crematorium trope). I promise this won't be the same old formula.
There's plenty of wild imagination here. As for the writing, don't worry about that just yet.
Chen Xiao transmigrates to the Ming Dynasty.
From the start, he picks up little Chongba and helps him establish the Ming Dynasty.
The two forge a deep bond, and Zhu Yuanzhang comes to regard Chen Xiao as his elder brother.
But Chen Xiao still can't change history, and eventually dies.
That is, until the sky screen appears and reveals everything.
The entire court bursts into tears.
Zhu Yuanzhang is overcome with regret.
But the sky screen gives him another chance: complete missions across different dynasties, and he can collect fragments to bring Chen Xiao back to life.
The two keep crossing paths in countless Ming Dynasty timelines.
Sometimes Chen Xiao is a guard protecting Zhu Qizhen.
Sometimes he's a eunuch, matching wits with Consort Wan.
And sometimes he's a bird, having the time of his life in Zhu Houzhao's Leopard House.
Zhu Yuanzhang: I'm playing an Infinite Flow game?
Zhu Di: Father, you're still alive?
Zhu Qizhen: Help!
Old Daoist: ...Grand Ancestor, I've got some pills here. Want one?
Zhu Youjian: The Ming Dynasty can still be saved!
Chen Xiao, your old pal Zhu is coming to find you...
Also known as I Was Zhu Yuanzhang's Strategist, but He Wants to Bring Me Back to Life; I Transmigrated to the Ming Dynasty and Became Zhu Yuanzhang's One True Love; and The Ming Dynasty: From a Ruined Temple to the Imperial Tombs, I Stayed by His Side for Six Hundred Years.
This blurb doesn't do it justice. Head to the story itself.
Alternate-history fiction. No historical nitpicking, and please excuse any inaccuracies about Ming history. Any resemblance to actual events is purely coincidental.
I am used to reading solemn monographs on the history of the Ming Dynasty, but I am also tired of reading fantasy time-travel novels. This novel centers on a modern person who travels back to Zhu Yuanzhang's period as a beggar and assists him in his counterattack from a refugee to the founding emperor. It finds an excellent balance between historical fiction and popular narrative. It does not subvert the grand context of official history, but it buries ingenious ideas in the gaps that are not covered by historical materials; it does not have exaggerated and refreshing routines, but uses modern thinking to collide with the chaotic times of the late Yuan Dynasty to write a unique way of the emperor's rise. It has a rigorous textual research and is both solemn and humorous. It can be called an excellent work of historical possibility novels.
It's okay, the plot is coherent, the imagination is really good, the subject matter is something I haven't seen before, but there is a bit of AI flavor in the middle. I should have written it myself and polished it.
