No. 13 Zhongshan Street: The Rain Never Stops

The girl in the white dress is so heartbreaking💔💔

The stories of this group of people are very solidly written, without any suspension or routine. The characters are vivid and have a strong sense of the times. Especially the Qingming chapter made me cry. Qingming Festival, cold rain, wet fog, old streets, paper money and dust, silent pedestrians... The sense of picture and depression directly wraps people up, as if they are really standing there. The mood is restrained but heartbreaking. There is no yelling or deliberate sensationalism. It is all about the details: - visiting graves, burning paper, bowing silently, the elders talking about old friends, the tone is plain but hiding a lifetime of thoughts. The teenagers seem to understand but not understand, and for the first time they really feel "death" and "separation" -Triple stamp of era + family love + youth This chapter combines the coldness of the times, the deepness of family affection, and the lightness of youth: - the older generation's outlook on life and death, the rules of the old streets, and the customs of the Qingming Festival - The protagonist's longing for his loved ones and his confusion about growing up - The rain kept falling, making all the emotions soft and painful. "After reading this Qingming chapter, I felt bored for a long time and felt sour." "It's not horror, it's the quiet, moist, lingering sadness." "The writing is so real, like a Qingming rainy day in my hometown." This chapter is the most "quiet, solemn, and most flavorful" chapter in the book - using a Qingming rain, it boils down nostalgia, regret, growth, life, death, and nostalgia. The old walls are crawling with old times, and moss is spreading over the brick buildings. The mist of Qingming Festival is wrapped in cooking smoke and spreads over the long alley. Paper ashes flew gently in the wind and fell on the bluestone Whose back is silent, reciting a piece of the past? The way to school is still so long, the sound of cicadas remains in the old playground The rain falls on the eaves, the ticking turns into a song, singing about youth and frivolity We laughed and talked about the distance, thinking that the future would be long As soon as I turn around, the years change their appearance. No. 13 Zhongshan Street It keeps raining The years are wet, and the care is also wet Those unsaid words are scattered in the wind A young man knows no worries and grows up in the blink of an eye The wind of Zhongshan Street blows through spring, autumn, winter and summer A home I can't go back to, a home I can't let go of Fireworks in the world are ordinary, but the most tender scars are The rain has stopped, but my thoughts still refuse to fall. Who is writing a line of poetry under the lamp and sending it to the past? Who is looking at the old street in the rain with red eyes? Time is silent but answers all the confusions Youth is a game, only the memories are hot The rain is still falling and the old streets are still waiting.

After reading this novel, it was extremely moving. I felt that it was not a cookie-cutter campus romance, but a more realistic novel that featured technical secondary school students in the late 1990s. After reading this work, it is like listening to an old friend drinking strong tea on a rainy afternoon in Chengdu and slowly recounting the past events that have been swept away by the torrent of the times. The most precious thing about this novel is that it records a special and soon-to-disappear group in the history of Chinese education - technical secondary school students in the 1990s. From 1995 to 2025, the author made a historical gap from "package distribution" to "two-way choice" (independent career choice). The destiny-changing announcement in the book not only cut off the iron rice bowl, but also the stable life originally planned by these rural children. It does not have grand preaching, but uses the specific coordinates of No. 13 Zhongshan Street, Deyang, and through the perspectives of Li Daiwei, Zhou Yaoji, Fang Qingsong and others to show how the lower-class youth of that era struggled, broke through, compromised or were reborn under the background of economic transformation, restructuring of state-owned enterprises, skyrocketing housing prices, and relocation of industries. Every person in the book seems to have grown out of the soil of that era, with a real smell of earth and sweat. The author is sensitive, tough, the narrator of the story, and the observer of the times. From low self-esteem to maturity, he represents the majority of ordinary people who are trying to survive in the cracks. Zhou Yaoji is a mean-spirited, soft-hearted, affectionate, one of the soul characters in the book. He used cynicism to cover up his deep feelings, and his song "Deliverance" broke the hearts of countless people. He is a pillar of friendship and the embodiment of regret. Fang Qingsong (Mavericks) Silent, wild, counterattacker. From a poor student who scraped putty on the construction site to a boss who hides his secrets. His story is the most legendary and the most poignant. Zhong Cheng (Brother Zhong) is a paranoid, law-mad, and lawyer. From squatting in a latrine in the middle of the night watching "Plum Blossom Book" to later "eating the plaintiff and eating the defendant", his persistence makes people laugh and laugh, but also admirable. Girl in White Skirt, White Moonlight, Regret, her bumpy fate (stepfather, divorce, Tibet) is the epitome of the inability of many beautiful girls of that era to control their own destiny. The secret love under the "white dress" in the book is written extremely delicately and full of regrets. The phrase "He is a simple grass and tree, coming from barren soil. In that spring, he did not dare to bloom." It expresses the love that the young man missed due to poverty and low self-esteem. This kind of regret is not heartbreaking, but like old wine, with great stamina. Whether it's Zhou Yaoji pulling Li Daiwei up to smoke and talk in the middle of the night, or the way they support each other in Shenzhen and Chengdu after graduation, this kind of brotherly love that "doesn't matter how rich or powerful you are, never forget each other" is the warmest undertone in the book. From Peng Jun's death of illness, to Li Jian's stay in Hanwang, to Tao Juncheng's serious illness, the author did not shy away from death and illness. These plots bring the story back from "nostalgia" to "reality", making people feel the fragility of life in the face of time. There are a lot of Sichuan dialects used in it (such as "die goods", "guawazi", etc.), Which make the text full of fireworks and pictures. It reads very rhythmically, as if you can hear the characters talking in your ears. The author captures the details very accurately. For example, "" "Three-eight yuan baseball subsidy" and these specific material details construct the real quality of life in that era. It is also a sociological sample. It allows us to see how everyone on the train stumbled and survived when the train of the era roared past. Many years later, the author returned to the village during the Qingming Festival. Paying homage to his mother, some of the details in the book can reveal the pain the author has endured over the years. The helplessness and relief are quite tearful. This novel does not feel like a commercial novel, but it is a sincere, flesh-and-blood work that deserves to be remembered.

Recalling the past with youth connects the changes of the times. The group portraits are vivid and the emotions are sincere. The regrets of youth and the sorrow of life are hidden in the daily fireworks. It is the epitome of the growth of a generation and a footnote of the times. This documentary work is true and simple, using delicate brushwork to restore the original appearance of the event. It is not deliberately exaggerated but extremely powerful. The text is calm and restrained, and the details are vivid and moving, allowing people to truly see the various aspects of reality and triggering deep thought. It is a high-quality documentary book with both warmth and depth.

It has a strong sense of the times and is so real that it writes about the technical secondary school students in the late 1990s: they left the country to work as farmers, were unemployed after graduation, and were abandoned by the times. It's full of details: campus, canteen, video room, part-time job, going south, MLM, and the struggle at the bottom. - Love: youth, restraint, miss, regret. Friendship: passionate, loyal, and later separated, lamenting fate for many years: efforts are useless, the times are crushing, and individuals are insignificant. If it were a TV series, it would be very interesting. After reading this book, I couldn't help but think of my student days and my first love. When we just graduated and came out of society, we were beaten to death and beaten by society.

The writing is realistic, taking me back to my student days. This is how we came over back then.

Real, touching, and well written.

This book is so dynamic! The language is vivid and down-to-earth, and when you read it, you feel like you are transported back to your youth in an instant, full of resonance and emotion. Highly recommended to everyone who wants to find their passion and innocence!
