In the Wild West shrouded in the shadow of Cthulhu, everyone's shadow has independent consciousness and moves away from the body at night. Silas Crane, a retired god-killer, lives in seclusion in a border town and runs a bakery, secretly seeking to clear the name of his wronged adoptive father. When his old cat suddenly speaks, warning him that his shadow has rebelled and stolen a key god-killing relic, Silas is forced back into the dark world. He discovered that a "Lightless Council" composed of shadows was planning the Eternal Night Rebellion, intending to massacre humans and seize the physical body. The root of this rebellion is actually related to the "Mother of the Sand Creeps", an alien god he sealed twenty years ago - the shadows may be executing an extreme salvation plan. Silas must face the fragments of his own shadow's divinity and make a soul-rending decision between clearing his family's name and preventing the apocalypse.
