From the Start, I Seized a Sword and Slashed My Way Through the Capital for My Sister

Su Wenqing, a great Confucian scholar from Jiangnan, longed for a daughter who could carry on his teachings. But when his eldest daughter, Su Jin, took her first-grab test, she ignored every brush and book and clutched a mysterious black sword. At three, she mastered peerless sword techniques without a teacher. At five, she could recite military texts backward. By six, her astonishing talent had shaken the realm. Emperor Qing forced her to the capital by imperial decree, where she became the disciple of General Xiao Lie, the Great General Who Guards the North, and was groomed as a weapon of the royal family.

Before leaving, Su Jin patted the head of her younger sister Su Yao, who had just turned three and was frail and sickly. “Don’t be afraid, Yaoyao. I’m going to the capital to carve out a future for you. Anyone who dares bully you, I’ll cut them in half!”

Ten years later, Jiangnan is swept by upheaval, and Su Wenqing is implicated in a major salt-tax case. Su Yao, frail but so cunning she seems almost demonic, is forced to travel alone to the capital. The officials of the entire court think this sickly young lady will be easy prey. Then the city gates swing open, and Su Jin, Great Chu’s foremost woman warrior, rides out to welcome her, clad in silver armor and leading ten thousand cavalry!

The black sword in Su Jin’s hand drinks blood. “You think you can scheme against my sister, Su Jin’s sister?”
