Embers of Wilderness

Adapted from Red Dead Redemption In 1899, the wilderness era of the North American continent was coming to an end. The railroad tracks run through the red desert of New Mexico. Detective Pinkerton's black suit crushes the legend of cowboy freedom. The iron hooves of bankers and railroad companies are collecting the last piece of wilderness into the cage of civilization. The bonfire of the old era is about to burn out, leaving only scattered embers that refuse to be extinguished, lingering in the wind. Eli Cole, a former Raven Gang sharpshooter, lost everything in the betrayal of his most trusted brother. The gang boss who treated him like a father died on the border, and he was framed as a traitor who betrayed his brothers. With a reward of 5,000 US dollars, he fled in the wilderness for five years. A shot in Tumbleweed Town caused him to run into an ambush targeting traitors, but he also fell into the dragnet set by Pinkerton. After escaping from the gunfire in the Black Canyon, he accidentally met a group of desperadoes who were also hunted by the times. They are the remnants of the gang who were displaced after the robbery in Blackwater Town. They are Arthur Morgan who is struggling with ideals and betrayal, and they are John Marston who is trying his best to give his family a stable place to go. The common enemy and similar fate made them brothers who could trust each other. Following the trail of revenge, Eli witnessed the collapse and end of a gang, witnessed a man's self-salvation in pain and delusion, and witnessed the struggle and inheritance of a father and son in the torrent of the times. From the bonfire at Horseshoe Lookout, to the rainy night in Saint-Denis, from the family fight in Rhodes Town, to the ultimate betrayal on the top of the snow-capped mountains, to the short-term stability of Beecher's Wish, and finally ending with that sound on the eve of the First World War.
