[Horror dungeons] + [System] + [slice of life] + [recruiting bosses] This book is a slow burn, and the protagonist is kind-hearted. Readers who like ruthless, decisive protagonists may want to give it a miss.
Horror dungeons descend upon the world. While every other player sees murderous ghosts, Gu An sees “people who are a little strange, but still pretty normal.”
Other people enter horror dungeons to survive.
Gu An enters them to meet the family.
The day I lost my job, I was dragged into a hotel dungeon with a 60% death rate. At midnight, a faceless female ghost waits outside the door to claim our lives, while the players shiver in fear.
I open the door and offer her a cup of instant noodles. “Miss, are you hungry?”
The terrifying boss in everyone else’s eyes is just a cold-faced receptionist who doesn’t know how to talk, as far as I’m concerned.
Others avoid the night watchman. I invite him to have tea.
Others fear the janitor. I remind him to put his tools away properly.
Only after my System awakens do I learn that
I can identify vengeful ghosts as “family members I can win over.”
And so…
The bloody-handed ghost child becomes the bratty kid at my house.
The silk-spinning monster becomes a little girl afraid of the dark.
The faceless female ghost… becomes my big sister.
While the other players are still struggling to survive,
I’ve already started holding family meetings in the dungeon.
“Who’s doing the dishes tonight?”
“Sis, your hands are freezing. Put on something warmer.”
“Hey, you, put your mop away. Don’t scare the guests.”
The dungeon bosses go from furious to baffled, then from baffled to accepting it.
In the end, they all sit around the table, waiting for me to serve dinner.
Other people clear dungeons with skill. I clear them with… household skills.
