The Legend of the Condor Heroes: A Fateful Romance Between Guo Fu and Yang Guo

In 1262, Xiaolongnu died of illness in the ancient tomb. With her dying breath, she entrusted Yang Guo to Guo Fu. Eleven years later, as Xiangyang was falling, Guo Fu witnessed her husband, Yelu Qi, defect to the enemy and betray his country.

Amid the flames engulfing the city, Yang Guo fought his way through the encirclement with one arm and rescued the woman who had once severed it. Adrift in a chaotic age, two battered souls relied on each other as they fled their pursuers. The Gentleman’s Sword and the Lady’s Sword were reforged into the Heaven Sword, while the Heavy Iron Sword was forged into the Dragon-Slaying Saber. Within these weapons lay a secret that could overturn the world.

From risking their lives for each other in the prison at Dadu to discovering the martial arts manual beneath Dongting Lake; from Yelu Qi’s vengeful madness, born of love, to Guo Xiang finally letting go of her obsession on Mount Emei, they struggled through misunderstandings and hardships, holding fast through war and betrayal. It took them half a lifetime to understand: the deepest love is an embrace amid the ruins, a hand held in old age.

And all of this was only the prelude to a century of upheaval. When the Heaven Sword was no longer buried with the dead, and the Dragon-Slaying Saber passed into the hands of Emei, the legend of “the supreme weapon of the martial world, the Dragon-Slaying Saber” had only just begun.

This is the bloodstained romance sealed away between the ending of The Return of the Condor Heroes and the beginning of The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber.
