The Age of Awakening arrived, and everyone underwent talent testing.
Su Yu was found to have an F-rank Speed talent, making him the most useless of the useless.
But no one knew that his true talent was called "One Step Ahead": designate a target and bind to it permanently to gain greater speed than its own. This was a chance to defy fate and change his life.
By a twist of fate, however, he accidentally bound himself to the Heavenly Dao.
Su Yu was deeply disappointed, because after the binding was complete, his original Speed talent had not changed at all.
But he soon discovered something strange: after absorbing awakening factors, everyone else strengthened their supernatural abilities, while all the awakening factors he absorbed transformed inside his body into something else entirely: spiritual energy.
While others strengthened their abilities and bodies, he was cultivating qi and pursuing immortality.
Everyone thought he was useless, but the truth was that he was an entire version ahead of the world.
Only when the Age of Cultivation officially arrived and qi cultivation became everyone's path did Su Yu finally understand what binding himself to the Heavenly Dao had meant.
The world kept upgrading, but Su Yu's personal version would always stay one step ahead of it.
At last, when ancient cultivators awoke from their slumber and those who competed for the Dao crossed the stars to arrive, the one standing before them was Su Yu, already beyond Heaven and Earth and ahead of all living beings!
