Folk Customs Forbidden Zone: I Rise to the Top in National Fate by Decoding Taboos

On the modern-day Blue Star, folk-culture forbidden zones suddenly began appearing all over the world. Random instances based on Chinese, Japanese, European, and other folk legends appeared in various countries. Each nation was forced to bind itself to a Chosen One. The Chosen One’s survival and progress inside the forbidden zone were directly tied to the nation’s destiny: if the Chosen One died, bizarre disasters struck the corresponding regions, the population plummeted, and resources ran dry; if the Chosen One cleared the instance, the nation received a blessing to its destiny, bringing favorable weather, technological advances, and the retreat of the bizarre.

Because Longguo had lost touch with its folk traditions in modern times, its people had forgotten the old taboos. The Chosen Ones failed one after another and died gruesome deaths. After losing seven forbidden-zone showdowns in a row, the nation’s destiny plummeted. The north was gripped by extreme cold, the south was flooded, and a bizarre fog swallowed cities. The country stood on the brink of extinction.
