[Apocalyptic Disasters] [Endless Polar Night] [Shelter Upgrades] [Survival at Home] [Stockpiling and Infrastructure] [System Power Fantasy] [Resource Wars] [Steel Fortress]
The endless polar night descends. The sun goes out, and temperatures around the globe plummet. Lin Yan is an ordinary person who likes to stockpile supplies and stay home. When disaster strikes, he’s trapped in an old, dilapidated house, with no power, little food, and nothing but looters and frozen corpses outside. Just as he’s about to freeze to death, the Shelter Upgrade System activates. Reinforced walls, a heating core, a water purification module, a planting pod, automated defenses: everything can be upgraded with survival points.
While the people in the rest of the building are turning against one another over a single piece of bread, he’s already enjoying hot meals at home. When the neighborhood bully and his gang break in to steal his supplies, Lin Yan activates his defenses and serves up a face-slapping takedown worthy of a livestream. And when outside forces assume he’s just a useless shut-in, they discover that his unassuming little home has already evolved into a steel fortress that devours the snow and wind.
But the polar cold is only the first layer of disaster. Behind the endless night, the climate is spiraling out of control, resources are being monopolized, shelter alliances are forming, and mutated creatures are closing in. Lin Yan soon realizes that when he reaches the end of the System’s upgrades, he’ll have more to protect than just his own home: he’ll have to safeguard humanity’s last spark.
